After receiving the ADPD(Alzheimer's Disease and Parkinson's Disease) 2015 Junior Faculty earlier this year, Dr. Yun-Ru Ruby Chen has also won the 2015 Academia Sinica Junior Research Investigators Award, the 13th Y.Z. Hsu Scientific Paper Award, as well as being elected as TWAS Young Affiliate for the period of 2015-2019 from The World Academy of Scisnces.
Dr. Chen’s research focuses on studying the mechanisms of incorrect protein folding which trigger various neurodegenerative diseases, including Alzheimer’s disease, Parkinson’s disease, and FTLD. Her latest finding in the full-length TDP-43 oligomer proved to be associated with AD and FTLD closely (Nature Communications, 2014) and had since drew attention.
