Professor Chi-Huey Wong was selected as the recipient of the American Chemical Society Award for Creative Work in Synthetic Organic Chemistry for 2005. He was recognized for his pioneering work on the elegant fusion of chemistry and biology for organic synthesis, especially of complex carbohydrates, glycoproteins and enzymes inhibitors.

Most of his methods and strategies are breakthrough achievements that have pointed toward large-scale green methodologies, shaped the development of a new field of chemistry, and impacted the way approaching asymmetric synthesis and drug discovery.

Wong is currently the Ernest Hahn Professor of Chemistry at the Scripps Research Institute and Director of the Genomics Research Center at Academia Sinica, Taipei. He is a member of Academia Sinica, the American Academy of Arts and Sciences, and the US National Academy of Sciences.
